The QS World University Rankings 2021 ranks the Universidad de los Andes 35th for employers’ perception of alumni.
More than 1,600 institutions are ranked by the British firm Quacquarelli Symonds, and Los Andes was the 35th best university in the world for employer reputation. It climbed 21 places from the previous year. This metric uses employers’ opinions from around the world regarding which institutions the best professionals come from. For this edition, around 52,000 answers were analyzed.
This year, Los Andes was awarded 94 points out of a possible 100. The previous year, the university was awarded 87.9 points.
In the overall ranking, the university was placed 227; it moved up seven places in comparison to the previous year. Since 2015, the institution has climbed 65 places the ranking. The QS World University Rankings has become one of the most widely consulted sources of information about the global performance of universities, and it is an important standard in assessing the quality of higher education. Each year, and this year—number 17—was no exception, QS evaluates six metrics: academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty/ student ration, citations per faculty, international faculty ratio, and international student ratio.
For academic reputation, Los Andes climbed seven places and was ranked number 123. Additionally, it has the global average for the number of professors per 100 students. According to the QS website, “A high ratio of professors to students is an indirect indicator of the commitment institutions have to high-quality education.”
In the most recent rankings, the university was higher than the global average for the number of international professors. It is important to emphasize that, between 2013 and 2017, Los Andes produced 3,804 research papers and was cited 25,918 times.
