Customarily, on May 24, on the anniversary of the establishment of Lodz University of Technology, a formal meeting of the Senate will be held. The university’s birthday is an opportunity for a joint meeting of the academic community with the city and university authorities, as well as the presentation of awards to academics and students.

The ceremony will take place at 11:00 in the Prof. Tadeusz Paryjczak Auditorium, in the Alchemium building. It will begin with a speech delivered by the Rector, Prof. Krzysztof Jóźwik, who will summarize the recent major achievements of Lodz University of Technology, primarily the high position of the university in the arena of Polish and world higher education.

I cordially invite everybody to participate in the ceremonial meeting of the Senate of TUL, and if you cannot attend the meeting, I encourage you to watch the broadcast of the event on the Internet – says the Rector of TUL.

Lodz University of Technology is once again ranked second in Poland in the number of domestic and foreign patents granted, according to the report published by the Polish Patent Office for 2021.

– Our scientists and students are constantly working on new innovative solutions and awarded at international exhibitions for them, says Prof. Krzysztof Jóźwik, explaining the reason for the university’s high position.

An important part of the anniversary event will be the presentation of prizes and awards to students and graduates for outstanding achievements, including best thesis awards. For the first time, the prize named after Prof. Włodzimierz Krysicki, a distinguished Polish mathematician and TUL professor, for the best bachelor’s and master’s thesis in applied mathematics, will be presented. During the meeting, statues and prizes will be ceremonially handed over to the winners of this year’s Rector’s competition.

On that day, a commemorative plaque will also be unveiled, prepared by the TUL academic community for the winner of the title of the European Tree of the Year 2023 – Oak Fabrykant, aka Jagosz.
