Scientists at TU Dortmund University, Paderborn University and the University of Würzburg have for the very first time succeeded in using laser pulses to precisely control ‘photon echoes’, which can occur when light waves superimpose on each other. The findings of the research have now been published in the scientific journal “Communications Physics”, published by […]

Groundwater reservoirs in Bavaria have warmed considerably over the past few decades. A new study by researchers at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (MLU) compares temperatures at 35 measuring stations, taken at different depths, with data from the 1990s. Water found at a depth of 20 metres was almost one degree […]

The molecular bases of the placebo effect are poorly understood. A team led by LMU researcher Karin Meissner has now studied the phenomenon in the context of nausea, and identified specific proteins that correlate with its favorable impact. In the case of the proven treatment, a TENS device was used […]

The daily commute to work is always something special for Holger Kliesch. Before taking the Path Train in Hoboken in New Jersey, he looks out over the magnificent New York skyline dominated by One World Trade Center. “I have run up this tower twice in the last few years, 417 […]

Researchers in Germany identified the precise structural differences that determine if a protein becomes an active enzyme or an iron scaffold. This finding, reported in Nature Communications, provides deeper insight into fundamental cellular processes, such as DNA synthesis and iron metabolism. Four mutations in a group of proteins, called glutaredoxins, […]

European Higher Education Organization is a public organization carrying out academic, educational and information activities on higher education in Europe.

The EHEO general plan stresses that:

  • Higher education systems require adequate funding and, as an investment in economic growth, public spending in higher education should be protected.
  • The challenges faced by higher education require more flexible governance and funding systems, which balance greater autonomy for education institutions with accountability to stakeholders.

Thus, EHEO plans:

  • improve academic and scientific interaction of universities;
  • protect the interests of universities;
  • interact more closely with public authorities of European countries;
  • popularize European higher education in the world;
  • develop academic mobility;
  • seek funding for European universities.
